Poppie in the Arts District
I love Mass Ave! It is Indy's Arts District and it is wonderful! Popping and Inclusive! Non-judgemental and free! But I wanted to show a part of Mass Ave many probably don't focus on such as the beautiful ally ways or a few of its monuments. Monuments can be easy to ignore here in Indy since we hold more then Washington D.C.
Now Mass Ave is all digital and new with the Cultural Trail and amazing shops, pubs, restaurants and very important...The Art bank!!! A very important thing to know about Indy is that we LOVE our articterture. We may install new windows or (sometimes paint) to the older building but absolutely tearing them down is mostly forbidden. We don't even like to think of it! You should see how many of us literally freak out when it is even mentioned!

It's so great to know that places like Indianapolis exist, where people are genuinely interested in their architecture and upset by the idea of replacing the old with the modern... I find that cities like that are really rare in North America. Coming from Vancouver, almost all of the neighbourhoods have been completely bulldozed to make way for shiny new condos since the housing boom in the early 1990s. The city was so full of history but except for in a few small pockets, you'd never know it; it looks like it sprang up spontaneously from the earth twenty-five years ago! Mass Avenue looks beautiful :)
