Das Deutsch Haus

Ladies and Gents my I present for your pleasure:: The Athenaeum

Ok I was asked to share more tours of Indy with y'all so here we go and hold tight because I'm about to get Über  nerdy  & all historian on y'all but hang in there! Ok? Ok!!

So way back when America was getting a huge amount of immigrants from all across Europe it was noticed that many collated in areas: Irish and Russian stayed in cities (New York City, Boston, and Chicago) while Germans west to what is now the Midwest to farm. Here in Indy there was (and probably still is) a rather large German community (I mean you should see the Athenaeum during GermanFest). And though this is a German-American cultural center Saint Patrick day is pretty AMAZING at The Rathskeller (which happens to be Indy's oldest restaurant)! Also it is rumored that The Rathskeller is haunted...but I'm sure that is just a rumor (gulp)!

Do you guys have buildings like this where you live?
